The Tekton is available with 100hp 1.0 turbo-petrol MT and 163hp 1.3 turbo-petrol DCT powertrains in its top-spec Tekna+ trim, whereas the Seltos GTX(O) can be had in either 1.5 turbo-petrol DCT or 1.5 diesel AT guise. Offering the latter powertrain is a major plus point for the Seltos, as many midsize SUV buyers still favour diesel engines.

That said, buyers interested in these SUVs’ 4-cyl turbo-petrol variants would likely lean in the Tekton’s favour, as its 1.3-litre engine is not only smaller than the Seltos’ 1.5-litre mill, but also develops 3hp and 27Nm more. Additionally, the Tekton’s wet-clutch DCT should make for smoother operation at slower speeds than the Seltos’ dry-clutch unit.

In terms of battery size, the Sierra EV’s mid-spec variant possess a capacity advantage of 2kWh over the top-spec e Vitara. However, it’s the Maruti EV that manages more range – albeit the difference here is minimal. The Sierra EV’s rear-mounted electric motor is also punchier, offering 64hp and 122Nm more than the e Vitara’s peak output figures.

While both cars are equipped with a single electric motor, the Sierra’s unit powers the rear wheels instead of the front ones. This also means that the Sierra EV should be able to put its power down better than the front-wheel-drive e Vitara, especially on inclines or when the vehicle’s fully loaded. Tata Motors hasn’t specified the 0-100kph time of the mid-spec Sierra EV, but Maruti Suzuki claims that the top-spec e Vitara can do it in 8.7 seconds.

Both Sierra EV and e Vitara support similar AC charging speeds, thus requiring a comparable amount of time to go from 10-100 percent SoC. However, the Tata SUV is capable of accepting higher DC fast-charging rates, which allows it to reach 80 percent SoC ahead of the e Vitara. That said, the Maruti EV DC charging time accounts for the time taken for the battery to go from 10-80 percent, instead of the Sierra EV’s 20-80 percent.

Conclusion

The top-spec Maruti e Vitara Alpha variant is priced at Rs 20.00 lakh, while the mid-spec Tata Sierra EV 63 Adventure variant is priced at Rs 20.99 lakh. While the e Vitara offers 7 airbags and a little extra claimed range, the Sierra EV with the 63kWh battery pack and in the Adventure trim offers better value overall. It has more power, larger dimensions and a lengthy list of features – all of which make the Tata Sierra EV a better value-for-money buy here.

The top-spec Tata Harrier EV’s Empowered trim is around Rs 3 lakh pricier than the Sierra EV’s fully loaded Empowered A trim. Although the Harrier EV is larger, the Sierra EV offers more boot space and a higher claimed range with both RWD and AWD. Unlike the Harrier EV, it gets features like a dedicated screen for the co-driver and more speakers, while getting the same driving tech as the Harrier EV. Although it misses out on boss mode, an additional knee airbag and a digital IRVM, a Rs 3 lakh difference makes the Sierra EV a better value-for-money proposition.

Flying Flea C6 static

The Flying Flea C6 is Royal Enfield’s first electric motorcycle and, by any measure, one of the most unconventional two-wheelers to come out of an Indian manufacturer. The brand says it isn’t designed to be a high-volume product, but rather as a learning exercise and a statement of intent. During our brief stint with the bike, we found the C6 takes a genuinely different approach to electric mobility. Here’s what works in its favour and a couple of reasons it might not be for everyone.

Reasons to buy the Flying Flea C6

Exciting and engaging to ride

The C6’s performance is more impressive than its compact dimensions might suggest. The 15kW peak motor produces 60Nm and the bike can reach a top speed of around 115kph, which it achieves with ease. More significantly, during our time with the bike we found that this performance is consistently available even as the battery state of charge drops. The motor is capable of 8kW continuous output, which is among the highest of any Indian two-wheeler EV.

Four riding modes – Rain, City, Highway and Sport – are available, along with a custom mode that allows you to tweak throttle response, power level, traction control and regenerative braking independently. 

Beautifully engineered with impressive attention to detail

The C6 is a genuinely fascinating piece of engineering to spend time with. Virtually no steel is used in the structural components – the chassis is a forged aluminium exoskeleton, the swingarm is aluminium, and the battery casing is constructed from magnesium alloy, a material that is significantly lighter than aluminium and has never been used in an Indian two-wheeler before. The girder fork, in particular, is a mechanical highlight – it’s virtually extinct on modern motorcycles and is fascinating to observe both at a standstill and in motion. Royal Enfield has addressed magnesium’s combustibility risk by designing the chassis as a protective exoskeleton around the battery casing. 

High-end technology and thoughtful features

The C6 is the most technically advanced Royal Enfield ever built, by a considerable margin. It comes with cornering ABS, traction control, a 3.5-inch round touchscreen TFT display and keyless operation. A rotary dial on the left switchgear allows riding mode changes on the move and makes for a genuinely intuitive system. App connectivity is standard, and an integrated phone storage compartment with wireless charging allows you to cast Google Maps onto the TFT. An on-board 2kW charger means you only need to carry a cable, not a bulky external unit, and three charging modes let you choose between fast, normal and trickle charging speeds. A notable addition is an optional incognito mode that prevents the bike from relaying data back to the company – a rare and welcome privacy feature for a connected vehicle.

Reasons to skip the Flying Flea C6

Polarising size and limited real-world range

The C6 is a small, compact motorcycle. Deliberately so, given its inspiration from the original World War II-era Flying Flea that needed to be parachute-dropped onto battlefields. Not everyone will find the proportions appealing, and riders expecting a conventional Royal Enfield presence on the road will be surprised by just how compact it feels.

Next, the 3.91kWh battery’s 154km claimed IDC range is modest, and in real-world use the figure varies significantly depending on riding style – aggressive riding can bring it down to 60-70km, while steady riding at 60-70kph makes 100km achievable. The C6 is best suited to urban use; venturing much beyond city limits will require planning. The pillion experience is also compromised, with a small removable rear seat and footpegs mounted on the swingarm that move with the rear suspension.

Price and availability

At Rs 2.79 lakh (ex-showroom), the C6 is a significant ask for a compact, single-speed electric motorcycle with a modest range. That said, given the engineering decisions Royal Enfield has made, it is arguably as reasonable as it could be. More immediately limiting for potential buyers is availability as the C6 is currently only on sale in Bengaluru, with a gradual city-by-city rollout planned. Those outside Bengaluru will have to wait, and there’s no confirmed timeline for when the bike will reach their city.

In top-specification guise, the Sierra EV and Mahindra BE 6 feature among the largest battery packs in the segment, with the latter being slightly bigger. But the Sierra more than makes up for it by being the only eSUV to have an AWD version. There’s also a single-motor RWD version offered on the Empowered A trim of the Sierra EV. The Sierra EV is up to Rs 2.11 lakh cheaper than the BE 6 in top-spec guise, depending on the chosen variant. Between the two, it is the Sierra EV we recommend. Tata Motors launched the fully electric version of the Sierra on June 30, 2026. Spread across three distinct variants, the Sierra EV joins the automaker’s all-electric line-up and is slotted between the Curvv EV and Harrier EV. The Sierra EV is a significant 267mm shorter than the Harrier EV but 30mm longer than the Curvv EV. It’s not only 31mm wider than the Curvv EV but also a noticeable 113mm taller. Not just that, the Sierra EV is slightly taller than the Harrier EV, too. The Sierra EV has a wheelbase that’s 170mm longer than the Curvv’s but falls short of the Harrier’s by 11mm.

The luggage-carrying capacity of the Harrier EV is more than that of the Sierra EV, owing to its size. While we’re yet to measure it, Tata claims that the Sierra EV’s boot is similar in size to its combustion-powered namesake, where it’s 450 litres. This means that the Sierra EV’s boot is smaller than that of the Curvv EV by 50 litres. The frunk capacity of the Sierra EV and Harrier EV change based on the variant chosen, with the lower ones sporting more capacity. While the Sierra and Harrier can be had with 18- or 19-inch wheels, the Curvv EV is only offered with 18-inch rims.

Both the Sierra and Harrier come in single-motor rear-wheel drive (RWD) and dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) versions. The entry-level variant of the Sierra and Harrier have identical outputs, with the torque remaining identical between all variants of these two SUVs. However, the mid-spec and top-spec Sierra’s rear motors make less power than their Harrier counterparts. Meanwhile, the Curvv EV is only offered with one powertrain option.

Since it’s likely less heavy than the larger Harrier, the Sierra EV QWD (Tata’s parlance for AWD) manages to finish the sprint from 0-100kph half-a-second quicker. It’s also 2.8 seconds quicker to 100kph than the single-motor front-wheel drive Curvv EV. The claimed range of the base- and top-spec Sierra EV are comparable to those of the Harrier EV, but the former’s mid-spec 75kWh RWD version has a slight range advantage.

Meanwhile, the Curvv EV’s claimed range is 122km shy of the Sierra EV’s. Both the Sierra and Harrier with the 75kWh battery option can accept DC fast-charging, taking the battery from 20-80 percent in about the same time. When plugged into a 7.2kW AC charger though, the Curvv’s smaller battery can be charged from 10-100 percent in a little over 7 hours. The Sierra EV needs about 1-3 hours extra to do the same, and the Harrier EV take a similar amount of time.

The Sierra EV gets a dedicated 12.3-inch infotainment screen for the front passenger, a JBL Black audio system with the most number of speakers, and a separate route planner meant currently for Android Auto users. It also comes with a new ‘AirConsole’ gaming feature, which syncs the user’s phone with the infotainment screen for playing games. Moreover, it’s only the Sierra EV that can be had with an augmented-reality head-up display (HUD).

The ‘Summon’ mode of the Sierra EV and Harrier EV allows the car to crawl out of parking spots using a key fob, while both models support Dolby Atmos and dual-zone climate control. Features like automatic headlamps & wipers, a driver’s seat with memory & welcome functions, 540-degree cameras, and hill-descent control are found on the Sierra EV as well as the Harrier EV. They also get 6 terrain modes: Normal, Grass/Snow, Mudruts/Gravel, Sand, Rock Crawl and Custom. However, the Harrier EV has 7 airbags and a larger primary touchscreen.

All three EVs come with four levels of regenerative braking, a gesture-activated tailgate, voice-activated panoramic sunroofs, and ventilated front seats. They also get Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) with adaptive cruise control and auto-emergency braking, plus vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) functions. The Sierra EV has the most number of features here.

While the top-spec Empowered X trim of the Curvv EV comes closest to the base-spec Sierra EV, the latter is still fairly well-loaded. Moving on to the Sierra EV and Harrier EV, their mid-spec Adventure trims are fairly matched in terms of pricing. At the top end, there’s Rs 3 lakh separating the fully loaded Tata Sierra EV from its equivalent Harrier EV counterpart. Some of the extra cash spent on the Sierra EV goes towards features that are exclusive to it – like the augmented-reality head-up display and dedicated screen for the front passenger. On the other hand, the price difference between the base Sierra EV and Curvv EV is Rs 1.8 lakh, with that gap widening to Rs 6.8 lakh at the top end.

Considering that this is a new-gen model with several mechanical and feature upgrades, expect it to command a significant premium over the outgoing Hilux, which is priced from Rs 28.52 lakh to Rs 36 lakh (ex-showroom).

The ninth-gen Hilux introduces an all-new design but retains its predecessor’s rugged ethos. Up front, the pickup features slim high-set LED headlamps bridged by a black trim piece that houses the Toyota wordmark. Below that, there’s a honeycomb-patterned grille flanked by angular air intakes and a chunky bumper.

The side profile is characterised by clean panelling, 17-inch alloy wheels and squared-off body cladding, while the rear gets sizeable vertically oriented tail-lamps with C-shaped DRL signatures. There’s also a large Toyota wordmark on the tailgate and generous cladding on the bumper.

Inside, the new Hilux is markedly more modern than its predecessor, with dual 12.3-inch displays taking centre stage on the freshly designed dashboard, along with a new three-spoke steering wheel bearing the Toyota lettermark. A welcome sight in the Hilux’s cabin is the abundance of physical controls, spread across the steering wheel, centre console and transmission tunnel.

In terms of features, the new Hilux packs terrain and drive modes, dual-zone climate control, a wireless charging pad, a blind-spot monitor, connected car tech, powered and ventilated front seats, multi-terrain and 360-degree cameras, over-the-air (OTA) updates, an advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) suite, driver drowsiness detection and more.

Since the new Hilux is based on the same IMV body-on-frame platform, Toyota is expected to retain the 2.8-litre diesel engine for the India-spec model, and could add the 48V ‘Neo Drive’ mild hybrid system that was introduced with the Fortuner last year.

In overseas markets, the new Hilux is available in all-electric guise too, making it Toyota’s first body-on-frame EV. The Hilux EV gets a 59.2kWh battery pack powering front and rear motors, with the former outputting 205Nm and the latter producing 269Nm. WLTP-tested range for the Hilux EV is pegged at 240km. It remains to be seen if Toyota will offer the Hilux EV in India.

Skoda Kodiaq RS review – The RS of SUVs

Normally, I wouldn’t begin a Skoda Kodiaq review with a 0-100kph run. But this isn’t a regular Kodiaq. It’s got RS in its name, which means performance is every bit as important as practicality. Left foot on the brake, right foot on the accelerator, Launch Control activated, and off we go. The VBOX flashes a 0-100kph time of 6.83 seconds. For a large, seven-seat SUV, that’s impressive.

Kodiaq RS Performance and Refinement – 8/10

To enable this, the changes begin under the bonnet. The familiar EA888 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine remains, but power climbs from 204hp to 265hp, while torque jumps from 320Nm to 400Nm. The numbers translate to acceleration and roll-on times a few tenths quicker than the standard Kodiaq, and the whole sensation is of being in a more urgent vehicle.

There’s a strong pull throughout the rev range, and on stretches long enough, the engine will happily wind to 6,000-6,500rpm. It’s particularly satisfying because the power feels usable and the performance is engaging. A similar-powered EV just won’t give the same thrill. Enhancing the experience is the soundtrack. The dual exhausts won’t let out pops or bangs, but you’ll hear a purposeful snarl from the engine when extended. Some of what you hear is played through the speakers, but it’s tastefully done and never sounds artificial.

Added power manifests in more urgent and energetic power delivery. 

The quick-shifting seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox is also intrinsic to the drive experience. It’s always in the right gear and is very responsive to your right foot. Of course, on a day of hard driving, you’ll inevitably reach for the paddle shifters. They’re quick to respond but aren’t always willing to grant a high-rpm downshift.

Kodiaq RS Ride Comfort and Handling – 8/10

The RS badge isn’t just about straight-line performance. Skoda has put effort into making the Kodiaq more exciting in corners. Enhancements over the standard Kodiaq include a move to 20-inch rims (up from 18 inches), progressive steering (it alters the ratio depending on lock) and adaptive dampers (Dynamic Chassis Control or DCC), with 15 settings covering the spectrum from soft to firm. It all comes together really well.

It’s no Octy RS but is surprisingly engaging to drive for a seven-seat SUV.

No, the tall and heavy SUV doesn’t magically transform into an Octavia RS, but judged as a seven-seat SUV, the Kodiaq RS is surprisingly engaging. In its sportiest setting, the RS changes direction eagerly and body control is tidy – you don’t feel the weight pushing outwards in high-speed corners. The all-wheel-drive system plays its supporting role really well, because there’s an ever-present feeling of grip, and this greatly ups confidence and connect with the RS. Up to 100 percent of torque can go to the rear axle, and this gives the handling a different feel to the front-wheel-drive Octavia RS. Skoda’s XDS+ system that brakes the inner wheel in corners also comes into play, helping the Kodiaq resist understeer. A well-weighted and responsive steering completes the package.

You can configure the drive to your liking. DCC gets 15 levels.

What’s nice is that there’s plenty of ways to set up the Kodiaq RS to your liking. Beyond the usual Comfort, Normal and Sport modes, there’s an Individual setting that allows you to tailor everything from damper stiffness and steering weight to the responses of the engine, gearbox and all-wheel-drive system. DCC, in particular, gives the Kodiaq RS a wider breadth of roles. It feels well tied down in the sportier setting, while the suspension has more give in the softest modes. Ride comfort is pleasant even on the 20-inch rims, and if memory serves, it’s more absorbent than the standard Kodiaq that rides on 18-inch wheels. Of course, no issues of ground clearance here. In fact, the Kodiaq RS will happily play everyday car. The engine is smooth and refined when you need it to be, but is happy to change character the moment you ask more of it.

Kodiaq RS Features and Safety – 9/10

New to the Kodiaq line-up in India is ADAS (rolled out last month), and the suite includes adaptive cruise control, emergency braking, lane-keep assist, a blind-spot warning and more. The functions work well enough and, of course, are an added layer of safety only. Nine airbags, electronic stability control and ISOFIX child-seat mounts are among the features on the long list of safety equipment. Wish the 360-degree camera was crisper, but props to the Matrix LED headlights that offer excellent illumination. The welcome and goodbye signatures on the lights are also a cool touch. 

Kodiaq RS Exterior Design and Engineering – 8/10

Sportier bumpers and larger 20-inch rims help identify the RS.

Drivers will know they are in a special Kodiaq, but the message is delivered to other road users in a slightly discreet manner. Sure, our test car’s Velvet Red paint shade drew attention, but in the white, black or grey paint shades, your biggest giveaway that this is an RS would be its larger rims. The RS sports a dechromed look in which all shiny bits are finished in black, but a mid-spec Kodiaq Sportline gets the same treatment. Sportier bumpers, dual exhausts and RS badging do give the Kodiaq RS street cred, but only to those in the know. 

Kodiaq RS Interior Space and Comfort – 8/10

The interior remains a highlight. Again, the predominantly black theme and sport front seats are elements you’d find in a Sportline, but that’s more an observation than a negative. Red cross-stitching on the seats, steering and dash, RS embossing on the seats and a textured metal finish for the door and dash inlays do lend this Kodiaq its distinct personality.

As for the individual elements, the front seats don’t just look great but hold you well with excellent back support, and adjustable thigh support included for good measure. Ventilation helps the experience, and you’ll like how instinctive the driver environment is. It’s easy to find a good driving position, visibility is great, and all controls are in clear sight and fall easily to hand.

Ahead of the driver is a crisp 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster with multiple display layouts, all of which are neatly executed. The dashboard itself is dominated by a 12.9-inch touchscreen that’s well integrated into the overall design. It’s quick to respond and supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Skoda has also done well to provide rotary controllers for the climate control system. While the outer dials handle climate functions, the centre dial is programmable and can be assigned to functions such as blower speed, drive modes or audio volume.

Rear-seat passengers will like their environment too. Knee room is generous, there’s enough room for three to sit in comfort, and the large windows and panoramic sunroof fill the dark interior with lots of light. The bench itself is comfy and features a reclinable backrest, plus fore/aft movement to balance space for third-row occupants. Rear-window sunshades, a dedicated climate control zone and phone/tablet holders mounted on the front headrests (to form a makeshift rear-seat entertainment system) are other comfort features at the back.

Third row is tight, but it’s possible to work out a space compromise.

The third row isn’t easy to get to, and space is insufficient for large adults. However, sit height-wise across the Kodiaq’s three rows, and you can reach a reasonable space compromise. 
When the rearmost seats aren’t in use, they are best left folded down, opening up a huge 786 litres of luggage room. In general, the Kodiaq RS’ cabin is very practical with lots of room for small items, generous door bins and well-sized cup holders.

Kodiaq RS Value for Money – 7/10

All 50 units of the RS are spoken for.

The Kodiaq RS won’t make you go weak in the knees like an Octavia RS can. What it does successfully is pepper the premium and practical Kodiaq with more performance and driver appeal. It really is a wholesome package that will be an easy sell for the entire family. That’s till you bring pricing into the equation. The fully imported Kodiaq RS is expected to be priced at Rs 60-65 lakh (estimated, ex-showroom, India), which would make it a good 15-20 lakh pricier than the locally assembled Kodiaq L&K. If so, the case for the Kodiaq RS weakens. Yes, it is more enjoyable to drive, but so much better? Hmm.

Skoda says all 50 units of the Kodiaq RS allocated for India are spoken for. For the lot who are happy to pay the premium, they’re buying an all-rounder they won’t get bored of for years to come.

BMW X6 M60i xDrive review: V8-engined brute

BMW X6 M60i xDrive driving

After a brief hiatus, the BMW X6 is back on our shores, but this time it’s packing a lot more firepower. You see, when it was last on sale in 2023, the X6 carried the B58 twin-turbo inline-six engine – a fabulous motor in its own right and one we adore in the M340i.

But in something the size and weight of the X6, you’d want something more potent, and that’s what we have here – the V8-powered, twin-turbocharged, 4.4-litre X6 M60i. A perfect match for the brutish exterior?

BMW X6 M60i xDrive Exterior Design and Engineering – 8/10

M60i gets a more aggressive front end with larger air dams.

When the first-gen X6 broke cover back in 2007, BMW received a lot of flak for its awkward styling. With time, though, BMW has honed the coupé-SUV formula, and this third-gen looks rather fetching. The sloping roofline catches your attention, but it’s the muscular flanks and the sculpted bonnet that hold onto it.

While it was away, the X6 received a minor facelift, giving it a more aggressive front end that the M60i trim builds on with larger air inlets and a gloss-black treatment for the bumper’s centre section. The M-badged kidney grilles are large but not disproportionately so, and are flanked by slimmer LED headlights with cool arrow-shaped turn indicators. Wider side skirts are part of the package, along with gloss black M wing mirrors and massive 21-inch alloy wheels. The rear sports new, more three-dimensional tail-lamps, but the real highlight is those massive exhaust finishers lower down on the bumper. They aren’t just trim pieces either – look closely, and you’ll spot quad exits hiding within.

What it doesn’t have is subtlety. Despite not being a full-blown M car, it has enough visual drama to satisfy ardent extroverts – particularly in one of the brighter shades, like our test car’s Aventurine Red or the Isle of Man Green. If that isn’t enough, BMW’s expansive Individual catalogue will help you find the spec of your liking.

BMW X6 M60i xDrive Interior Space and Comfort – 8/10

Supremely comfy front seats offer ventilation and massage functions.

Inside, it’s the quality of the materials that really impresses. There are none of the hard plastics we complain about on some of the newer BMWs, like the 5 Series or X3. Nearly everything you see or interact with is either soft-touch plastic, flawlessly stitched leather, cool aluminium or high-gloss wood. You sit low, unlike a typical SUV, and the black, suede-like roof lining adds to that snug feeling.

The cabin is exquisitely trimmed and superbly put together.

The front seats are armchair-comfortable and yet hold you well during hard cornering. Heating and ventilation are a given, but there are also multiple massage modes that work rather well. There is also a high degree of adjustability; the top third of the seatback adjusts independently from the bottom, so shoulder support is superb, and those with long limbs will appreciate the extendable thigh support and telescopic steering column – all done electrically, of course.

High floor means you sit knees-up, but headroom is decent.

Naturally, you don’t buy an X6 for the back seat, but when you do put someone there, they may find the low seat lacks thigh support. Headroom, however, is not an issue, but the sloping roofline means you won’t be carrying any tall plants in the 580-litre boot.

BMW X6 M60i xDrive Features and Safety – 8/10

Occupying prime real estate on the updated dashboard is BMW’s curved display comprising a 14.9-inch infotainment screen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. This also means it forgoes some physical controls in favour of the screens. There are shortcut buttons strewn about the cabin, but these merely take you to the right menu in the infotainment. Thankfully, the infotainment is logically laid out, quick to respond and, using a combination of the iDrive controller and shortcuts, easy to get used to.

14.9-inch infotainment houses the HVAC controls.

There are other niceties, like a thumping 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a wireless charger, a heads-up display and ambient lighting. Safety kit includes 6 airbags, a suite of electronic aids and ADAS features, including an auto-park function – sample the V8, though, and you are unlikely to relinquish control.

The latest iDrive is intuitive to use with some practice.

BMW X6 M60i xDrive Performance and Refinement – 9/10

Boilerplate items first: under the bonnet is the S68 – a 4.4-litre V8 with twin turbos and a 48V mild-hybrid system. It’s a rather special motor and, in different configurations, can be found in everything from the X6 M Competition to even the Defender Octa. In the M60i, it makes 530hp and 750Nm, but it is reassuring to know it’s stout enough to handle more.

A tweaked version of this S68 also does duty in the full-blown X6 M and Defender Octa.

Fire it up, and you are greeted by a bass-heavy rumble. Sport Plus mode opens up the taps in the standard M Sport exhaust for a louder, angrier tone that builds to a deep growl as the revs rise. Granted, some of this is pumped in through the speakers, but it is very enjoyable nonetheless. It isn’t obnoxiously loud even at full chat, but it certainly isn’t lacking in character.

Despite not being a full-blown M car, the M60i offers plenty of visual drama.

As expected, performance is explosive. It fires off the line with real violence, spinning the tyres if the surface isn’t perfect. BMW claims 4.3 seconds to 100kph, and we clocked a VBOX-verified time of 4.11 seconds. Even into triple digits, it feels relentless, with the 8-speed torque-converter doing its best dual-clutch impression – I imagine hitting its 250kph limiter must feel like an anchor dropping.

BMW X6 M60i xDrive Range and Efficiency – 6/10

Despite the cornering ability, the ride is more pliant than you would expect.

The X6 gets an Eco Pro mode that dulls the V8’s responses, and the mild-hybrid system with its auto stop-start function helps efficiency, but the age-old adage of “if you must ask” applies here. A large 83-litre tank should at least ensure you aren’t stopping too frequently.

BMW X6 M60i xDrive Ride Comfort and Handling – 8/10

For something this big and heavy, it has a shocking amount of poise through the bends.

Despite the ballistic performance, there is a wonderful duality to the M60i. Dial it back into Comfort mode, and the growl is replaced by a distant rumble, the suspension unclenches, the transmission slurs its shifts, and it transforms from brute to relaxed GT. But the M-specific springs and adaptive dampers have a definite firm edge, amplified by the stiff sidewalls of the run-flats. Some harshness will come through while crawling over the worst of our city streets, but for the most part, there is more pliancy than you would expect. As speeds rise, this improves further and, while it never feels cosseting, it isn’t uncomfortable.

Quad exhaust ports demand attention even before the V8 fires up.

It’s a fair trade-off considering the cornering ability it has. For something that weighs 2.4 tonnes, the X6 has a shocking amount of poise through the twisties. Body control is superb, with roll only apparent in the tightest bends. The M Sport differential gives it incredible drive out of corners, and it does feel distinctly rear-biased, but to get it unstuck, you’d have to be travelling at ludicrous speeds. There is a welcome heft to the steering, but also a good feel and feedback coming through the meaty rim. It doesn’t drive like the blunt instrument its size and brawn might suggest, but rather like something a lot more sophisticated.

BMW X6 M60i xDrive Price and Verdict – 8/10

Updated rear gets new 3D tail lamps and a revised bumper.

Priced at Rs 1.78 crore, the X6 M60i enters a segment with some stellar rivals. At one end is the Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 Coupé priced at Rs 1.5 crore – similar to the X6 in terms of bodystyle, but outgunned in cylinder count and performance. At the other end is the Porsche Cayenne GTS Coupé starting at Rs 1.97 crore, with an emphasis on “starting” – spend time on the configurator, and you’ll see how quickly the number climbs as you tick option boxes. The most direct rival, then, is the Rs 1.77 crore Audi SQ8. In terms of ability too, it sits between the Audi and Porsche – more characterful than the former, not quite as sharp as the latter. Picking between them, then, is a matter of where your preferences and loyalties lie.

Welcome To The Jungle BO collection day 1: अहमद खान की फिल्म ‘वेलकम टू द जंगल’ इस शुक्रवार को मिली-जुली प्रतिक्रिया के साथ सिनेमाघरों में रिलीज हुई। इस फ़्रैंचाइज़ी की तीसरी फिल्म में अक्षय कुमार, सुनील शेट्टी, दिशा पाटनी, जैकलीन फर्नांडीज़ और अन्य कलाकार मुख्य भूमिकाओं में हैं। मिली-जुली प्रतिक्रिया के बावजूद, फिल्म ने बॉक्स ऑफ़िस पर अच्छी शुरुआत की है। आइए जानते हैं कि ‘वेलकम टू द जंगल’ ने पहले दिन कितनी कमाई की।

ट्रेड वेबसाइट Sacnilk के अनुसार, ‘वेलकम टू द जंगल’ ने गुरुवार को पेड प्रीमियर से ₹3.75 करोड़ कमाए। शुक्रवार को फिल्म ने ₹15 करोड़ की कमाई की। ‘वेलकम 3’ के 10,890 शो में 25% ऑक्यूपेंसी भी देखी गई। इससे इसकी ओपनिंग कमाई ₹18.75 करोड़ हो गई।

इसने अक्षय की पिछली फिल्म ‘भूत बंगला’ की ओपनिंग कमाई को पीछे छोड़ दिया। प्रियदर्शन की डायरेक्ट की गई उस फिल्म ने भारत में 12,386 शो से ₹12.25 करोड़ की नेट ओपनिंग कमाई की थी। प्रीमियर से हुई ₹3.75 करोड़ की कमाई को जोड़ने पर, फिल्म की ओपनिंग कमाई ₹16 करोड़ रही। उससे पहले आई उनकी फिल्म ‘जॉली एलएलबी 3’ की ओपनिंग कमाई ₹12.50 करोड़ थी।

‘वेलकम 3’ की ऑक्यूपेंसी सुबह 11% थी, जो दोपहर में बढ़कर 26.85% और शाम को 28.85% हो गई। रात के शो में भी ऑक्यूपेंसी बढ़ने की उम्मीद है। ‘वेलकम टू द जंगल’ फ़िल्म ‘वेलकम’ (2007) और ‘वेलकम बैक’ (2015) की अगली कड़ी है। इस फ़िल्म के डायरेक्टर अहमद खान हैं, इसे नीरज वोरा ने लिखा है और इसे फ़िरोज़ नाडियाडवाला, राकेश डांग और वेदांत विकास बाली ने बेस इंडस्ट्रीज़ ग्रुप, केप ऑफ़ गुड फ़िल्म्स और सीता फ़िल्म्स के बैनर तले प्रोड्यूस किया है। फ़िल्म में कई बड़े कलाकार हैं, जिनमें अक्षय कुमार डबल रोल में हैं। उनके साथ सुनील शेट्टी, दिशा पाटनी, जैकलीन फर्नांडीज, रवीना टंडन, लारा दत्ता, अरशद वारसी, परेश रावल, तुषार कपूर, श्रेयस तलपड़े, आफताब शिवदासानी और जैकी श्रॉफ भी हैं।

हिंदुस्तान टाइम्स के रिव्यू में कहा गया है, “परफॉर्मेंस के मामले में ‘वेलकम टू द जंगल’ शानदार है। यह फ़िल्म अक्षय कुमार की उनकी ‘हेरा फेरी’ टीम – परेश, राजपाल और सुनील शेट्टी – के साथ सहज केमिस्ट्री पर काफ़ी निर्भर करती है। अरशद वारसी के पास करने के लिए ज़्यादा कुछ नहीं है, लेकिन वे फ़िल्म में मज़ा जोड़ते हैं। इसके अलावा, ‘बड़ी बी’ के रोल में फरीदा जलाल और ‘मुराद चाचा’ के रोल में किरण कुमार ने बेहतरीन कॉमिक टाइमिंग दिखाई है। वे दोनों मिलकर दर्शकों को खूब हंसाते हैं।”

तीसरी फ़िल्म में नाना पाटेकर और अनिल कपूर के न होने पर बात करते हुए, अक्षय ने PTI से चौथी फ़िल्म के बारे में इशारा किया। उन्होंने कहा, “‘वेलकम’ एक पूरा परिवार है। इसमें नाना, मिस्टर अनिल, मैं और बाकी सभी लोग शामिल हैं। यह परिवार जैसा है। अगर कभी ‘वेलकम 4’ बनी, तो आप उन सभी को उसमें देखेंगे।”
