Maruti Suzuki Baleno:

Maruti Suzuki Fronx:

Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara:

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara:

Maruti Suzuki Invicto: ₹80,000

Invicto MPV

Honda 0 Alpha EV spied testing ahead of expected debut by end-2026

Honda 0 Alpha EV spied testing ahead of expected debut by end-2026
Honda 0 Alpha SUV spied

Following the Elevate facelift, Honda’s next launch for India will be the all-new 0 Alpha electric SUV – the brand’s first all-electric vehicle for our market. Honda is expected to reveal the official name later this year and also perhaps showcase the production-spec model before it goes on sale by early 2027. Ahead of its launch, a heavily camouflaged prototype of 0 Alpha SUV has recently been spied testing on our roads.

  • India-built model planned for global markets, including Japan
  • To be manufactured at the Tapukara plant in Rajasthan
  • No technical details available as of yet

Honda 0 Alpha SUV spied: what to expect?

The Honda 0 Alpha was first preview by a concept about exactly a year ago at the Japan Mobility Show 2025. And looking at these camouflaged spy shots, the radical shape doesn’t seem to have changed at all. It looks nothing like any existing Honda, with the characteristic design element being the near-vertical rear end with a thick C-pillar area, almost reminiscent of an MPV. It gets a large rear windscreen that’ll likely be wrapped around by an LED light bar, while the lower section gets a protruding bumper and is expected to feature a diffuser like element.

At the debut of the concept, Honda had said the design was already near production-ready, so much of the details, including the lighting signatures and the glass panels could be seen on the final model. The front ‘grille’ area is expected to sport an illuminated Honda logo and a charging port, framed on the side and above by the headlights.

A previous sighting of a camouflaged test mule has also given us a look at the interior of the upcoming electric SUV. The most prominent element in the cabin is a massive central infotainment touchscreen mounted atop the dashboard. To its right sits a much smaller digital driver’s display, ahead of which there’s a three-spoke flat-bottomed steering wheel with paddleshifters for regeneration. The 0 Alpha’s interior incorporates an array of buttons on the centre console, seemingly for functions such as climate control and ventilated seats.

The Honda 0 Alpha SUV is expected to have a wheelbase of about 2700-2800mm, with the priority being maximising interior space. The upright rear tailgate also hints at good luggage space and interior room.

Honda 0 Alpha technical details

Technical details on the 0 Alpha are quite scarce at the moment, but the brand has previously confirmed that it will be offered with two battery pack options. Both will be LFP batteries, likely ranging in the size of 65kWh-75kWh units. At launch, the Honda 0 Alpha SUV is expected to use a single-motor, front-wheel-drive layout.

The upcoming electric SUV will be manufactured in India, with Honda’s Tapukara plant in Rajasthan expected to serve as the production base. It’s expected to go on sale by early 2027, with India and Japan among the initial markets. The 0 Alpha will rival electric midsize SUVs such as the Mahindra BE 6, MG ZS EV, Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Sierra EV, Maruti Suzuki e Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella.

Mahindra Thar OG vs rivals price, spec comparison

Mahindra launched the Thar OG in September 2026 with several hardware, styling and safety upgrades over the outgoing model. The Mahindra Thar OG competes with the Maruti Suzuki Jimny and Force Gurkha 3-door in the relatively niche mass-market off-roader segment. Let us look at how the changes and improvements in the Thar OG help the model take on its rivals.

Mahindra Thar OG vs rivals: Dimensions

Thar and Jimny are longest here

Rampover angle (degree)26.42428
Water wading depth (mm)650310 (estimated)700
Wheel size (inch)18/ 191518

All three models trade punches in the size department. The Thar OG and Jimny are longer than the Gurkha 3-door, with the Jimny’s wheelbase being the longest. However, the Maruti off-roader is the narrowest and shortest one here. The Gurkha rides the highest off the ground, followed closely by the Thar OG with its 226mm clearance. Both of them offer 18-inch wheels, though the top-spec Thar OG ZXT trim rides on 19-inch units. The Jimny, on the other hand, comes with 15-inch wheels only.

The Thar OG has a 40-degree approach angle, while the Gurkha and Jimny have 39 degrees and 36 degrees, respectively. The Jimny has the highest departure angle at 46 degrees, followed by the Gurkha at 37 degrees and Thar at 36 degrees. The Gurkha has the best rampover angle at 28 degrees, compared to 26.4 degrees for the Thar and 24 degrees for the Jimny. The Gurkha also has the highest water-wading depth at 700mm, followed by the Thar at 650mm and the Jimny at an estimated 310mm.

The Mahindra Thar OG offers the widest choice of powertrains here, with three engines, while the Jimny and Gurkha 3-door get only one engine each. Thar’s 162hp 2.0-litre petrol is the most powerful here. Its 2.2-litre diesel engine makes the highest torque output here.

The stronger turbo-petrol and diesel engines of the Thar OG can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. These also offer the choice between rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive (4WD) layouts. Whereas, the 1.5-litre diesel engine is available in the rear-wheel drive guise, and transmission duties are handled solely by a 6-speed manual gearbox.

The Jimny offers 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic options with 4WD as standard, whereas the Gurkha has a 5-speed manual gearbox with 4WD.

The Thar OG and Gurkha 3-door both use independent double-wishbone front suspension, while the Jimny gets a 3-link rigid-axle setup at both ends. At the rear, the Thar uses a five-link setup with a Watt’s link, while the Gurkha gets a multi-link setup with a track bar.

In terms of off-road equipment, the Thar has an advantage with terrain modes available in 4WD, a feature that the Jimny and Gurkha do not offer. Both the Thar and Jimny use electronic locking differentials in 4WD, while the Gurkha gets a manual locking differential.

With its September update, the Thar OG also gains Mahindra’s DaVinci dampers, which is standard fitment across the range. The range-topping ZXT trim goes a step further by adding frequency dependent damping (FDD) to this setup.

Coming to the top trims, the Thar OG ZXT diesel 4WD AT trim is the most expensive here at Rs 17.75 lakh, pricier by Rs 1.49 lakh than the Gurkha and Rs 3.23 lakh than the Jimny Alpha AT.

Rally of Coimbatore winner Dean Mascarenhas

Dean Mascarenhas defeated Karna Kadur to win the 2026 Rally of Coimbatore – Round 2 of this year’s Indian National Rally Championship (INRC). A total of 64 cars participated in the predominantly gravel rally, which covered a total of 110.80km of competitive distance.

  1. Dean Mascarenhas wins, 23.482 sec clear of Karna Kadur
  2. Fabid Ahmer retires on last stage
Rally of Coimbatore

Former national champion Kadur and co-driver Musa Sherif dominated on the opening day, holding a lead of 5.6 seconds over Fabid Ahmer and Milen George. Mascarenhas and his co-driver Gagan Karumbaiah, meanwhile, were third overall, just over nine seconds adrift.

But Mascarenhas turned things around on the final day. He outpaced Kadur on every stage from SS3 onwards and ended up taking victory by a margin of 23.482 seconds. “Karna and Musa set a really strong pace on Saturday, so we knew we had to stay patient and keep chipping away. Being nine seconds down overnight wasn’t a bad place to be, because there was a lot of road left. On Sunday we found our rhythm, and once we got going on Black Thunder (R) we just kept pushing. It was a proper fight with a great competitor, and I’m delighted to take the win in Round 2,” said Mascarenhas.

His co-driver Karumbaiah added, “Pace notes were everything this weekend, especially on Sunday when the gaps were so small. Dean trusted every call, and that made all the difference. Beating a crew as experienced as Karna and Musa is never easy, and we’re looking forward to the rest of the championship.”

Jason Saldanha and co-driver Srinivas Murthy P V completed the INRC podium in third place. Ahmer remained in podium contention for majority of the event, but was forced to retire on the final stage.

Next up on the INRC calendar is the Robusta Rally in Coorg from November 20 to 22.

Maruti Baleno vs Tata Altroz: Whose top trim offers more value?
Maruti Baleno vs Tata Altroz

The Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Tata Altroz offer a wide range of features in their respective top variants. The Baleno Alpha(O) is available with both a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine with a 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT, while the Altroz Accomplished+S is offered only with the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with a 6-speed DCA automatic. Here, we compare the two top-spec variants on features and equipment.

Both hatchbacks get LED lighting, 16-inch alloy wheels, folding ORVMs and rear wipers, so the basic exterior equipment is broadly similar. The Altroz gets flush-fitting door handles and a dual-tone roof, while the Baleno gets UV-cut glass and pull-type door handles with chrome garnish. The differences here are largely limited to styling and exterior detailing rather than major differences in functionality.

Maruti Baleno vs Tata Altroz: Interior features

Altroz gets larger screens; Baleno has ventilated seats and a head-up display

The Altroz has the larger 10.25-inch infotainment screen and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, giving it more screen area than the Baleno’s 9-inch touchscreen and analogue dials with a TFT MID. The Baleno instead offers features such as ventilated front seats and a head-up display, which are not available on the Altroz. The Altroz gets a sunroof, rear armrest and cooled glovebox, which the Baleno misses.

Both cars have wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, rear AC vents and wireless charging. The Baleno adds active cooling for the wireless charger and leatherette upholstery, while the Altroz has two additional tweeters, with both cars using four speakers.

Maruti Baleno vs Tata Altroz: Technology and convenience

Both cars have a 360-degree camera and voice assistant. Their connected-car systems also allow remote vehicle functions, with Suzuki Connect on the Baleno and iRA on the Altroz.

The key difference is ADAS: the Baleno gets Level 2 ADAS with Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Advanced Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Warning and High Beam Assist, while the Altroz does not offer Level 2 ADAS.

Maruti Baleno vs Tata Altroz: Price and verdict

 Maruti Baleno Alpha(O)Tata Altroz Accomplished+S
Price (Rs, lakhs) 9.50 – 9.99 10.75

At Rs 9.50 lakh-Rs 9.99 lakh, the Baleno is Rs 1.25 lakh to Rs 76,000 cheaper than the Altroz. The Altroz, meanwhile, has its own advantages, including a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen and digital instrument cluster, along with features such as a sunroof and cooled glovebox.

Between the two, we would recommend the Baleno. Along with the lower price, it offers segment only features, such as ventilated front seats, a head-up display and Level 2 ADAS. The combination of these features, its two gearbox options and lower top-spec pricing gives the Baleno a broader equipment package for the money.

Maruti Suzuki Baleno Facelift

Maruti Suzuki Baleno facelift:

Maruti Suzuki Baleno facelift:
