Volkswagen India Track Day Experiences

Volkswagen India has launched Track Day Experiences, also known as VWe (or Volkswagen Experiences). The German automaker is calling this an experiential platform aimed at bringing owners and enthusiasts closer to VW by way of structured driving programmes, driver development activities and community events. The inaugural edition will be held at Coimbatore’s CoASTT facility over a period of two days (October 10-11, 2026).

  • First edition will be held on October 10-11 at Coimbator’s CoASTT facility.
  • Open to owners of the Golf GTI, Tiguan R-Line, Tayron R-Line, Virtus GT and Taigun GT.
  • Cost of registration is Rs 2,500 per participant.

What will the Volkswagen Track Day Experiences offer?

Attendees can participate in autocross, slalom, off-roading and go-karting sessions

The two days will see participants being able to partake in a mix of on-track and off-track activities, designed for drivers of varying skill levels. The Volkswagen Track Day Experiences will include lead-and-follow sessions, autocross challenges, slalom exercises, a dedicated off-road obstacle course, go-karting and also vehicle handling demonstrations – all carefully under instructions from experts. The main circuit measures 3.8km and has 14 turns, while the registration cost per participant is Rs 2,500.

More than a showcase of performance, Volkswagen says that the format is designed to let owners build confidence and get an in-depth understanding of their car’s dynamics. VWe will also have owners participating in technical masterclasses, networking sessions with other participants and various lifestyle activities. The event will offer attendees dedicated hospitality areas and family-friendly experiences, apart from interactive brand engagement zones and a recognition segment celebrating individual owner stories and achievements.

Who can participate for the Volkswagen Track Day Experiences?

The inaugural event will welcome multiple VW models and will be open to owners and media

The inaugural edition of the Volkswagen Track Day Experiences is meant to bring together owners of the brand’s performance-focused models sold in India. This not includes everyday performance variants such as the Virtus GT and Taigun GT, but also the more serious performance offerings like the Tiguan R-Line, Tayron R-Line and Golf GTI.

This event is meant to act as an opening chapter for Volkswagen’s larger experiential strategy in India. According to VW India, this exercise is intended to keep customers engaged with the brand beyond the point of purchase by way of curated driving programmes and various other ownership experiences.

Tata Sierra Legend Series:

Tata Sierra Legend Series:

The Legend Series adds a total of 18 variants to the Sierra range, spread across five trim levels: Smart+ L, Pure L, Pure L(O), Pure+ L and Adventure+ L. These are largely based on existing lower- and mid-spec Sierra trims and are denoted by an ‘L’ suffix in the name.

Tata Sierra Legend Series trims explained

Tata Sierra Pure+ L

The Legend Series essentially democratises many feel-good features previously exclusive to higher-spec Sierra trims, affording a more premium experience to buyers on tighter budgets. For instance, the Sierra Pure+ L gets ventilated front seats and a 6-way powered driver’s seat, both of which were available only in the SUV’s one-below-top Accomplished trim. It also comes with dual-zone climate control, a manual Boss mode, a thigh support extender and a full leatherette finish for the interior.

Tata Sierra Pure+ L interior

In the base Smart+ L trim, you get leatherette seats and interior trim, wheel covers, auto-folding outside rearview mirrors (ORVMs), steering-mounted controls and roof rails over the standard Sierra Smart+. Move up to the Pure L, and the equipment list adds a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a rear camera, an 8-speaker sound system, cruise control, a tyre-pressure monitoring system, a rear wiper/washer, 17-inch alloy wheels and more.

Tata Sierra Pure L(O) interior

There’s a new Pure L(O) version on offer too, serving as the mid-spec Legend Series trim. It adds a panoramic sunroof, automatic headlamps and rain-sensing wipers over the Pure L. Finally, the top-spec Legend Series trim is the Adventure+ L, which packs a 360-degree camera, frequency-dependent dampers, terrain modes, dual 12.3-inch screens, front parking sensors, a reclining rear seat, ambient lighting, a cooled glove box and a wireless charging pad.

Tata Sierra Legend Series powertrains

Compared to the trims they are based on, powertrain options are mostly unchanged in the Legend Series. The only outliers are the Pure+ L, which additionally gets the 160hp 1.5-litre direct-injection turbo-petrol AT powertrain, and the Adventure+ L, which offers the 106hp 1.5-litre petrol DCT option. Notably, the Pure+ L is now the entry point to the Sierra’s turbo-petrol engine option.

Aside from the Legend Series, the standard Sierra Adventure+ trim can now be had with the 1.5-litre petrol DCT powertrain as well.

All prices are ex-showroom, India.

Tata Safari EV interior spied with triple-screen setup

Tata Safari EV interior spied with triple-screen setup
tata safari ev triple screens

Newly surfaced spy shots of a Tata Safari EV test mule indicate that the electric three-row SUV will offer a triple-screen layout on the inside. The current ICE-powered Tata Safari does not get this feature, which implies that the electric version will be more feature-rich, at least at launch. Speaking of which, the Safari EV is expected to go on sale during the festive season of 2026.

Tata Safari EV may borrow Sierra EV’s triple screens

At present, the only electric Tata to come with a triple-screen setup is the Sierra EV – the ICE Sierra is also the only combustion-powered Tata to offer the feature. With the Safari EV set to arrive in a few months as Tata’s flagship electric car, though, it appears the SUV will be fitted with a triple-screen setup to reflect its positioning. This will also help the Safari EV better compete with its direct rival, the Mahindra XEV 9S, which offers a triple-screen setup from the base variant itself.

Tata Sierra EV triple-screen setup. Image used for representation only.

The Sierra EV’s triple-screen setup comprises a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a 12.3-inch central touchscreen, and a 12.3-inch passenger display. The driver’s display and central touchscreen handle instrumentation, infotainment, and navigation, while the passenger display allows the co-driver to stream TV shows and movies, or play a selection of games either by using their smartphones as controllers or by directly pairing a gamepad to the screen via Bluetooth. Expect the Safari EV’s triple-screen setup to function similarly. It remains to be seen if Tata could also bring the triple-screen setup to the ICE-powered Safari.

Tata Safari EV battery and range

Credit: Rushlane

We expect the Safari EV to retain the Harrier EV’s 65kWh and 75kWh battery options. In the Harrier EV, both batteries are paired with a single rear-mounted motor (RWD) as standard, developing 238hp and 315Nm. The 75kWh battery additionally offers a dual-motor AWD layout that generates a combined 313hp and 504Nm. As for MIDC-certified range, the Harrier EV claims 538km for the 65kWh RWD, 622km for the 75kWh AWD, and 627km for the 75kWh RWD versions. The larger and heavier Safari EV is likely to feature slightly lower range figures.

Land Rover considering a Defender Pickup Truck

Land Rover considering a Defender Pickup Truck
Land Rover Defender pickup rendering

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), along with its Stellantis partner, is considering a Defender Pickup truck for the US market, according to a report by The Times. This comes just a few months after JLR and Stellantis signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed specifically at collaborating for product development opportunities for buyers in North America.

  • The Defender Pickup is aimed at the US market.
  • Likely to be localised in the States to avoid import tariffs.
  • To be one of several new models JLR’s planning for the region.

Land Rover Defender Pickup: What we know so far?

While the two brands have signed a MoU, exact details regarding the upcoming Land Rover pickup truck are expected to emerge towards the end of 2026. Former Executive Director of Vehicle Programmes at JLR, Nick Collins, admitted to Autocar UK in 2021 that not only is “there a customer demand” for such a pickup truck, but also that one “can be made from a monocoque as there are no structural limitations”.

However, it remains to be seen which platform the Defender Pickup truck actually uses. For perspective, JLR and Stellantis have at their disposal the Defender’s monocoque platform and the body-on-frame designs used by Stellantis-owned brands like Jeep and RAM. Buyers looking for high-end pickup trucks in North America currently have popular options that include range-topping variants of the Ford F-150, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500 and RAM 1500 – all of which are body-on-frame models.

While the Defender SUV range sold worldwide rolls out of JLR’s Slovakia facility, The Times report indicated that the Defender Pickup truck is likely to be produced locally in the US to avoid import tariffs. The US is a “priority growth market” and will lead to “exclusive offerings” in due course, PB Balaji, Chief Executive Officer of JLR, said. JLR’s plans for North America stretches beyond just one model. “Working with Stellantis allows us to explore complementary capabilities in product and technology development that support our long‑term growth plans for the US market,” Balaji added.

The Tata Punch topped the August 2026 sales rankings with 21,320 units, almost double the 10,704 units sold in August 2025. Its sales increased 99 percent year on year, the highest growth among the 10 models.

3. Maruti Suzuki Swift

Sales: 19,832 units

The Maruti Swift ranked third in August 2026 with 19,832 units, compared with 12,385 units in August 2025. Its sales increased 60 percent year on year, leaving it 348 units behind the Wagon R.

5. Maruti Suzuki Ertiga

Sales: 18,516 units

The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga finished fifth in August 2026 with 18,516 units, almost unchanged from the 18,445 units sold in August 2025. Its sales were effectively flat year on year.

The Ertiga continues to hold the title of India’s highest-selling MPV. Its practical cabin, strong fuel efficiency and value-for-money positioning attract both private and fleet buyers, although it misses out on some features offered by rivals. It is priced from Rs 8.90 lakh to Rs 13.04 lakh and rivals the Kia Carens and Toyota Rumion.

6. Tata Nexon

Sales: 18,431 units

7. Maruti Suzuki Dzire

Sales: 18,418 units

The Maruti Dzire was seventh in August 2026 with 18,418 units, compared with 16,509 units in August 2025. Its sales increased 12 percent year on year, with the Dzire being the only sedan in the top 10.

Strong fleet demand, fuel efficiency and a well-balanced ride and handling setup continue to support the compact sedan’s volumes. The Dzire rivals the Hyundai Aura, Honda Amaze and Tata Tigor and is priced between Rs 6.31 lakh and Rs 9.41 lakh.

8. Hyundai Creta

Sales: 16,288 units

The Hyundai Creta finished eighth in August 2026 with 16,288 units, up from 15,924 units in August 2025. Its sales increased 2 percent year on year, making it the only Hyundai model in the top 10.

A roomy cabin and long feature list continue to attract buyers, although the top variants are expensive and some interior plastics could be better. The Creta rivals the Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Honda Elevate and Tata Sierra. It is priced between Rs 10.91 lakh and Rs 20.11 lakh.

9. Maruti Suzuki Baleno

Sales: 15,746 units

The Maruti Suzuki Baleno ranked ninth in August 2026 with 15,746 units, compared with 12,549 units in August 2025. Its sales increased 25 percent year on year, making it the third Maruti Suzuki hatchback in the top 10.

The Scorpio nameplate remains popular for its strong engines, rugged character and off-road ability. However, the third-row seating is cramped and the luggage area is not particularly practical. The Scorpio N rivals the Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar and Mahindra XUV 7XO and is priced from Rs 13.69 lakh to Rs 25.49 lakh.

The Honda Elevate facelift will debut in India in early October 2026, our dealer sources suggest. The Elevate was introduced in June 2023, and the facelift could update its exterior and interior design while adding new features. The facelifted Elevate is, however, expected to remain mechanically unchanged.

  1. It could have revised exterior lighting and a redesigned grille
  2. Expected to borrow ventilated front seats from City

Honda Elevate facelift: Expected changes

Could get revised exterior lighting elements

The current Honda Elevate is shown for representative purposes only.

The Honda Elevate facelift, similar to the recently updated City sedan, is expected to receive some styling changes. These could include revised LED lighting elements, a redesigned grille, a new design for the 17-inch alloy wheels and revised front and rear bumpers.

More features are expected to keep the cabin more modern

The current Honda Elevate’s dashboard is shown for representative purposes only.

Inside, the Elevate facelift could get a new cabin theme and updated seat upholstery, although the overall dashboard design is expected to remain largely unchanged. However, Honda could add several new features to make the Elevate more competitive in the midsize SUV segment.

The current model misses out on features such as a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, ventilated front seats, a powered co-driver’s seat and rear sunblinds, all of which are increasingly becoming common among its rivals. Honda recently added ventilated front seats and a factory-fitted 360-degree camera to the City with its facelift, and these features are expected to make their way into the updated Elevate as well. Notably, the Elevate gets a 360-degree camera as a dealer-level accessory.

The same petrol engine is expected to continue

The current Honda Elevate’s engine bay is shown for representative purposes only.

The facelifted Elevate is expected to retain its existing 1.5-litre, four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine. It produces 121hp and 145Nm and is available with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-step CVT automatic.

Interestingly, the City is also available with a 1.5-litre strong-hybrid petrol engine that produces a combined 126hp and 253Nm. Although the Elevate is based on the City, Honda has yet to offer this hybrid powertrain in the Elevate. With hybrid vehicles gaining popularity in India, it remains to be seen whether the facelift brings the hybrid option to Honda’s midsize SUV.

The Honda Elevate is expected to be priced at a premium over the current model, which ranges from Rs 11.81 lakh to Rs 16.36 lakh (ex-showroom). It will continue to rival other midsize SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Tata Sierra, Maruti Victoris and Grand Vitara, and Toyota Hyryder.
