RE Himalayan 440 vs Yezdi Adventure: Price and specifications compared

RE Himalayan 440 vs Yezdi Adventure: Price and specifications compared
Image showing the Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 in Mustang Brown colour and the Yezdi Adventure in Yellow Falcon colour.

The Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 is back, wearing familiar clothes but a new, improved heart. Debuted first on the Scram 440, the upsized 443cc engine now makes 1.4hp more power and 2Nm of torque over the erstwhile Himalayan 411. Throw in an additional sixth gear and the Himalayan should now be a better tourer than before. But wait, how does this revived ADV compare to its direct rival, the Yezdi Adventure? Let’s find out.

Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 vs Yezdi Adventure: Engine and output

Yezdi makes more power with a liquid-cooled engine

On paper, the Yezdi Adventure displaces 109cc less than the Himalayan 440, but the Yezdi starts off strong—quite literally—with more power at a higher redline than the Himalayan 440. Its engine is also liquid-cooled compared to the Himalayan’s air- and oil-cooled mill. Both the motorcycles have six gears, so highway travel shouldn’t be a chore on either.

Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 vs Yezdi Adventure: Dimensions and weight

Things become a bit more even in this section. Both motorcycles share similar ground clearance numbers, but the Himalayan is more accessible with a 15mm lower saddle height. Yezdi reports 187kg for the Adventure but that’s dry weight. So, with 90 percent fuel, it should weigh just as much, if not more than the Himalayan’s 199kg.

Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 vs Yezdi Adventure: Tyres, brakes and suspension

Both models are (almost) on par

Suspension (F,R)

Once again, the numbers look real similar on this front. The Yezdi Adventure has a slightly larger rear tyre and a slightly larger front disc brake. Speaking of tyres, although both models come with wire spoked rims as standard, the Yezdi Adventure offers cross spoke, tubeless rims as an optional Rs 20,000 add-on; available to the middle and top variants. Over on the Royal Enfield side though, such an upgrade isn’t possible at the moment. Royal Enfield doesn’t offer tubeless rims to the Himalayan 440, even as an accessory; they haven’t confirmed if the Himalayan 450’s tubeless rims can be retrofitted to it either. Suspension is another area where both motorcycles are neck-and-neck with them sharing the same kind of setups on paper, down to the travel.

Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 vs Yezdi Adventure: Features

Yezdi gets more rider aids

The Yezdi offers a more comprehensive feature package compared to the Royal Enfield. The Adventure gives you traction control, adjustable wind shield and instrument cluster, three ride modes (Road, Rain, Off-road); all of which are missing on the Himalayan 440. On the other hand, the Royal Enfield comes with a tripper pod as standard for turn-by-turn navigation, a USB type-C port, and LED headlight and taillight. But if rider aids are what you’re after, the Yezdi has more of them.

Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 vs Yezdi Adventure: Price

Yezdi offers more value for money

Royal Enfield Himalayan 440

Yezdi Adventure

Price (ex-showroom, Tamilnadu)

Rs 2.29 lakh

Rs 2.09 – 2.16 lakh

Royal Enfield has kept things straightforward with the Himalayan 440 just offering one variant in three colours. All of them share the same price as well. Yezdi offers three variants of the Adventure in four total colours, separated only by the colour choices. Like we had mentioned earlier, you can add cross spoked tubeless wheels to its middle and top variants for Rs 20,000 extra. To conclude, on paper, the Yezdi Adventure puts up quite the fight to the Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 but real-world experiences may vary. It would be prudent to decide between the two after taking test rides.

Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 vs Himalayan 411: differences explained

Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 vs Himalayan 411: differences explained
New Himalayan 440 vs Old Himalayan 411

The Royal Enfield Himalayan 411 was discontinued in late 2023, when the significantly more sophisticated Himalayan 450 took its place. However, the added technological complexity also meant that the 450 was considerably more expensive than the bike it replaced, leaving many riders longing for the 411’s simpler, more straightforward character. The new Himalayan 440 is Royal Enfield’s answer to that demand. While it retains the same DNA as the original Himalayan, it brings a number of meaningful updates nearly a decade after the first-generation bike made its debut.

New Himalayan 440 vs Old Himalayan 411: What stays the same?

The core philosophy and most of the cycle parts carry over unchanged

The Himalayan 440 retains its split-cradle frame architecture from the 411, along with the same 21-inch front and 17-inch rear spoked wheel combination. Suspension travel is also unchanged, with 200mm at the front and 180mm at the rear, as is the 220mm ground clearance and the 800mm seat height. In character and purpose, these are the same motorcycle.

New Himalayan 440 vs Old Himalayan 411: Engine and gearbox

The new Himalayan uses the same engine as the Scram 440

The most significant change on the Himalayan is to do with the powertrain, with the bike now using the same powerplant as the Scram 440. The original Himalayan was powered by a 411cc, air/oil-cooled, single-cylinder unit producing 24hp at 6,500rpm and 32Nm at 4,000rpm. The 443cc unit on the new bike makes 25.4hp at 6,250rpm and 34Nm at 4,000rpm – 1.4hp and 2Nm more.

This new engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox, unlike the 411, which used a 5-speed unit, with revised ratios throughout. The additional gear should make highway cruising more relaxed and touring more comfortable over long distances.

New Himalayan 440 vs Old Himalayan 411: Braking

Gets improved braking hardware and dual-channel switchable ABS

On paper, the braking hardware on the Himalayan 440 seems identical to what the 411 had to offer, with a 300mm disc at the front, 240mm rear disc, and dual-channel ABS. However, Royal Enfield mentions that the hardware now comprises new two-piston Bybre floating calipers with larger pistons, delivering improved braking performance. The dual-channel ABS system is switchable, so you can disengage the rear ABS.

New Himalayan 440 vs Old Himalayan 411: Features and equipment

Gets LED headlight and Tripper navigation among other features

The 440 gets a new LED headlight, and the digital-analogue instrument cluster setup has been updated. It loses the tachometer from the original but gets the brand’s Tripper navigation pod for turn-by-turn navigation. Another notable addition includes a USB Type-C charging port. The Himalayan has always been about long-distance adventure travel and unsurprisingly, the brand is offering a long list of accessories that you can add to the bike, including protection like engine and knuckle guards, as well as luggage like a top box and official panniers.

New Himalayan 440 vs Old Himalayan 411: Price

The Himalayan 440 is priced at Rs 2.29 lakh, making it a substantial Rs 79,000 more affordable than the Himalayan 450’s starting price. In fact, when the Himalayan 411 was discontinued in 2023, it was priced between Rs 2.15 lakh and Rs 2.30 lakh. That makes the new 440’s pricing even more impressive as three years on, it costs virtually the same as its predecessor while offering a more powerful engine, better brakes and several other practical upgrades.

August 2026 delivered strong year-on-year growth across the board as manufacturers gear up for the festive season, but the standout story was TVS Motor Company leapfrogging both Honda and Hero MotoCorp to become India’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer by monthly dispatches for the first time.

TVS Motor: 5,91,437 units

TVS recorded its highest-ever monthly two-wheeler sales this past August, with dispatches climbing 21 percent year-on-year from 4,90,788 units last August. This pushed it past both Honda and Hero for the top spot this month. Domestic two-wheeler sales grew 18 percent to 4,33,796 units, while the company’s electric two-wheeler business posted growth of 137 percent to 59,453 units. TVS also continued to lead as an exporter, shipping 1,57,641 two-wheelers overseas, up 29 percent year-on-year.

Honda: 5,79,162 units

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) posted 8 percent YoY growth, with total sales rising from 5,34,861 units last August. Domestic sales grew at the same 8 percent clip to 5,17,329 units, while exports rose by a sharper 15 percent to 61,833 units.

Hero MotoCorp: 5,68,398 units

Hero two-wheeler dispatches grew a modest 2.65 percent year-on-year from 5,53,727 units. Domestic ICE dispatches stood at 5,16,747 units, while the Vida brand continued its strong run with 25,558 units dispatched – a 38 percent growth. Exports fell 24.6 percent to 26,093 units from 34,588 a year earlier.

Bajaj Auto: 4,43,748 units

Bajaj two-wheeler dispatches grew 30 percent YoY from 3,41,887 units. Domestic sales rose 10 percent to 2,01,898 units, while exports jumped 53 percent to 2,41,850 units, continuing the company’s run as one of India’s largest two-wheeler exporters.

Royal Enfield: 1,26,479 units

Royal Enfield motorcycle sales grew 11 percent YoY from 1,14,002 units. Domestic sales rose 11 percent to 1,14,204 units, while exports grew 10 percent to 12,275 units. The month saw the launch of the Classic 350 Gorkha Edition and an updated Continental GT 650, alongside continued momentum for the Flying Flea C6, which the brand says has crossed 50,000 customer-driven kilometres in its current sole market of Bengaluru.

Suzuki: 1,20,611 units

Suzuki posted 6 percent year-on-year growth from 1,13,936 units, driven largely by domestic sales, which rose 13 percent to 1,03,118 units. Exports declined to 17,493 units from 22,307 units a year earlier.

5 things to know before buying the Honda Rebel 300

5 things to know before buying the Honda Rebel 300
Honda Rebel 300

The Honda Rebel 300 is the first model in the Rebel family to be manufactured locally and acts as the brand’s most accessible cruiser motorcycle here. Built around a bobber-style design with a teardrop fuel tank, round LED headlamp and short exhaust, it is sold exclusively through Honda BigWing dealerships. Here are answers to some of the most commonly asked questions about it.

What is the price of the Honda Rebel 300?

The Honda Rebel 300 is available in two variants. The Standard variant is priced at Rs 2.22 lakh and the E-Clutch variant at Rs 2.62 lakh – a Rs 40,000 premium for the automated clutch system. At Rs 2.22 lakh, the Standard variant undercuts the Royal Enfield Goan Classic 350 (Rs 2.25-2.28 lakh, ex-showroom, Chennai), one of the few other bobber-styled motorcycles currently on sale in India.

What engine does the Honda Rebel 300 use?

The Honda Rebel 300 is powered by a 286cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine producing 30hp and 27.5Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed gearbox. This is the same engine that powered the CB300R previously sold in our market.

What features does the Honda Rebel 300 have?

Both variants of the Rebel 300 get a circular TFT instrument display with Honda RoadSync connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation, full LED lighting and dual-channel ABS. The E-Clutch variant additionally allows the rider to configure the clutch system via the TFT display.

What is the Honda Rebel 300 E-Clutch and how does it work?

Honda’s E-Clutch is an electronically automated clutch system that uses actuators to operate the clutch automatically, allowing the rider to change gears without using the clutch lever. It does not make the Rebel 300 a fully automatic motorcycle, as the rider still selects gears manually using the gear lever. However, the system handles clutch engagement and disengagement on its own.

Importantly, the clutch lever is retained and can be used manually whenever the rider chooses. The system is designed to reduce rider fatigue in stop-and-go traffic while making the bike more accessible for those who find operating a clutch lever demanding.

What is the seat height and weight of the Honda Rebel 300?

The Honda Rebel 300 has a seat height of 690mm, making it one of the lowest motorcycles currently on sale in our market. This uld make it exceptionally accessible for a wide range of riders. The upright handlebar and forward-set footpegs complement the low t to create a relaxed, unhurried riding position. Kerb weight is 172kg and fuel tank capacity is 11 litres.

RE Hunter 350 and Triumph Speed 400

The last time we compared the Hunter 350 to the Speed 400, things were a lot more straightforward, but things have since changed. Royal Enfield has fixed the Hunter’s biggest deterrent, comfort and has positioned it squarely as a stylish and relaxed street naked; completely different from its retro siblings. Bajaj, on the other hand, had to downsize the Triumph Speed 400’s 398cc engine to a 349cc one, to meet the 18 percent GST slab. So, is picking one from these two, very good motorcycles still difficult? Let’s see.

Royal Enfield Hunter 350 vs Triumph Speed 400: Engine and output

Triumph has more power and torque, but RE delivers both earlier

Bajaj’s downsizing of the 398cc engine has reduced torque more than horsepower, making the Speed 400 a relatively weaker proposition compared to before, at least on paper. Royal Enfield, however, has not had to do anything and continues with its likable J-series engine making the same power and torque as before. It’s hard not to miss that the Hunter delivers both of it much earlier in the rev range than the Speed which reinforces the status quo that these still aren’t meant to be substitutes for each other. The Speed does have one extra gear, making it more capable at highway speeds of the two.

Had this been the Bullet/Classic 350, this section would’ve been an onslaught on them but perhaps that’s exactly why the Hunter 350 exists. Being the lightest Royal Enfield, the Hunter puts up a tough fight to the Speed 400 on every front. Even though it is 2kg heavier than the Speed, it’s more accessible with a lower seat height. Both are very approachable and friendly machines, for both newer and shorter riders.

Royal Enfield Hunter 350 vs Triumph Speed 400: Tyres, brakes, and suspension

Speed 400 gets a fatter fork and better brakes

Suspension (F, R)

43mm USD fork, monoshock

On paper, the numbers once again continue to be really close. However, the Speed 400 gains on the Hunter 350 in a few areas. It has a wider rear tyre, gets radial tyres at both ends and a slightly fatter USD fork. The Triumph also gets better brakes with a far more effective four-piston, radial caliper at the front, whereas the Hunter 350 sticks to a more conventional two-piston, floating caliper.

Royal Enfield Hunter 350 vs Triumph Speed 400: Features

Par for the (retro) course for both

Packing in the most features for the money isn’t what this segment is known for, and neither motorcycle attempts to change that. The Hunter 350 offers dual-channel ABS, an assist and slipper clutch, a type-C USB port, and a TFT navigation tripper pod on higher variants. The Speed 400, gets everything except the navigation feature, offering traction control instead.

Royal Enfield Hunter 350 vs Triumph Speed 400: Price

Hunter is far more affordable

Royal Enfield Hunter 350

Triumph Speed 400

Price

Rs 1.37 lakh – Rs 1.71 lakh

Rs 2.34 lakh

Last but not least, how much do you pay to buy one of these? And this is an area where the Hunter 350 has a huge advantage. The top-most variant of the Hunter 350 will set you back by Rs 1.71 lakh, with the base variant starting at as low as Rs 1.37 lakh (both prices ex-showroom, Chennai). On the other hand, the Speed 400 costs Rs 2.34 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). On paper, this can look like a difficult choice considering how close these are, but that confusion will go away as soon as you take test rides considering the vastly different riding experiences of both.
