Simple Wave to expand the brand’s portfolio

The brand current has the One range on sale.

The Wave has been developed for everyday mobility, with Simple Energy highlighting comfort, practicality and shared journeys. It will take on family-oriented electric scooters such as the Ather Rizta, TVS iQube and Bajaj Chetak.

The scooter has been spotted testing in India on several occasions. Earlier test mules featured a large single-piece seat, a spacious-looking floorboard, telescopic front suspension and twin rear shock absorbers. Braking hardware included a front disc and rear drum, while a TFT instrument display was also seen on test vehicles. Simple Energy has not yet confirmed the final production specification.

The Wave represents a move into a broader part of the electric scooter market for Simple Energy, whose existing products have focused on performance and technology. The company says its new scooter has been developed through its in-house R&D and engineering capabilities, including proprietary software and vehicle technologies.

Simple Energy also says it is the first Indian OEM to commercially manufacture heavy rare earth-free electric motors, highlighting its focus on developing key technologies in-house.

Technical details of the Wave have not yet been revealed. Battery capacity, motor output, claimed range, charging specifications, variants and pricing are expected to be announced at the September 2 launch.

With the Wave, Simple Energy will enter the family scooter market with a product aimed at everyday users, broadening its reach beyond its existing performance-oriented electric scooters.

The wider Chetak business has also continued to grow. Bajaj Auto recorded 3,02,674 domestic Chetak sales in FY2026, up from 2,60,033 units in FY2025, according to its annual report. Chetak’s share of India’s electric two-wheeler market increased to 20.7 percent during the year.

Upcoming Ather Konarc confirmed to get metal body

Over the last couple of weeks, Ather has dropped a few details and teasers about what we now know will be called the Konarc – the brand’s first product based on the EL platform. Ather CEO Tarun Mehta has confirmed that the Konarc will have a metal body.

  1. Will get a 14-inch front wheel
  2. To rival TVS iQube and Bajaj Chetak
  3. Will be the most affordable Ather

The Konarc will be the first Ather with a metal body

The Bajaj Chetak is another electric scooter that features metal panels

To recap, the Konarc is expected to be Ather’s most affordable scooter and will be positioned against the likes of the TVS iQube, Orbiter and Bajaj Chetak. We had learned earlier that it will get a handlebar-mounted headlight, wide and horizontal LED daytime running light (DRL) on the front apron, a 14-inch front wheel, and a 12-inch rear wheel.

We expect the Konarc to be priced between Rs 1-1.25 lakh, meaning prices would start below both the Rizta (starts at Rs 1.21 lakh) and the 450 series (starts at Rs 1.28 lakh) which places it against the lower-end variants of EVs like the TVS iQube, Orbiter, and the Bajaj Chetak who dominate the sales at the moment. As we get closer to August 29, we should learn more about the Konarc.

Ather Konarc spotted testing

Ather Konarc test mule

Just yesterday, we learnt that Ather’s upcoming electric scooter will be called the Konarc. Now, the scooter has been spotted testing in Bengaluru ahead of its official launch on August 29.

  1. Ather Konarc launch on August 29
  2. Scooter to feature a swingarm-mounted motor
  3. Will rival TVS iQube and Bajaj Chetak

Ather Konarc: What we can expect

New platform promises easier servicing and longer service intervals

As we’ve learnt from previous sightings of the upcoming scooter, including the assembly line image shared by CEO Tarun Mehta, the latest spy shots once again confirm that the Konarc’s design closely follows the EL01 concept that Ather showcased at Community Day 2025.

The scooter features a handlebar-mounted headlight and a wide LED daytime running light (DRL) on the front apron, giving it a more conventional scooter look compared to the sharper, more angular 450 range. The images also confirm that the Konarc gets an all-new fully digital instrument cluster, but we’ll have to wait until the end of the month to see what features it will offer. That said, Ather has built a reputation for impressive tech, so we’d expect the Konarc to continue that trend.

We also know that the scooter will feature a 14-inch front wheel and a 12-inch rear wheel, with a front disc brake and rear drum brake. The test mule further confirms the use of a swingarm-mounted motor, although its specifications are yet to be revealed. Lastly, the images show that the scooter could comfortably accommodate two adults and features a spacious floorboard.

Expected to be priced in the range of Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.25 lakh, the Konarc will slot below the Rizta as Ather’s most affordable scooter. At that price point, it will take on the entry-level variants of the TVS iQube and Bajaj Chetak, which currently lead the electric scooter sales charts in India.

E3 Trion electric scooter launched at Rs 1 lakh

E3 Trion electric scooter launched at Rs 1 lakh

Bengaluru-based electric mobility startup E3 Electric.AI has launched its first electric scooter, the Trion, at an introductory price of Rs 1 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru). The new electric scooter is available in three variants – C1, C1x and C2 – and the company is positioning AI-based predictive features and a modular platform as its key differentiators.

  1. Trion range starts at Rs 1 lakh
  2. Available with 2.3kWh and 3kWh LFP batteries
  3. Top-spec C2 has an 82kph claimed top speed

E3 Trion battery, range and performance

The C1x has a claimed IDC range of 165km

The entry-level Trion C1 uses a removable 2.3kWh LFP battery, while the C1x and C2 get larger, fixed 3kWh LFP units. All three variants use a PMSM hub motor, although E3 has yet to disclose detailed motor output figures.

E3 claims an IDC range of 165km for the C1x. The range figure for the C1 hasn’t been revealed yet. Meanwhile, the range-topping C2 has a claimed top speed of 82kph and can accelerate from 0-40kph in 6 seconds. The C1 and C1x have Eco and Power riding modes, while the C2 adds a Sport mode.

The Trion rides on 14-inch wheels, which are larger than those on most electric scooters currently on sale in India. E3 also says the scooter offers up to 52 litres of combined storage across its underseat compartment, floorboard and glovebox. However, just the underseat storage hasn’t been disclosed.

E3 Trion features

Its connected suite includes predictive diagnostics, navigation and remote vehicle functions

E3 describes the Trion as India’s first AI-powered intelligent electric scooter. Central to this is what the company calls the E3 CommandCenter, which uses vehicle and cloud data to monitor the scooter and provide predictive diagnostics and service alerts.

The scooter gets a 5-inch LCD display and connected functionality through the company’s TripSense system, which essentially uses the Rider’s smartphone as a secondary display to provide additional information. Features include navigation, a trip planner with charger locations, remote battery monitoring, vehicle controls, geofencing, SOS assistance and a dashcam. E3 also claims that its AI HealthScan feature can perform vehicle diagnostics in 10 seconds.

The battery system incorporates what E3 calls an AI Digital Twin, which is claimed to provide real-time diagnostics and predictive information about the battery. Both battery options use LFP chemistry.

Other equipment includes dual-projector LED headlights, LED tail-lights and IP67-rated weather protection. The Trion is based on E3’s Triaxisframe modular architecture, which has been designed to accommodate different battery configurations and future derivatives.

E3 Trion price, variants and availability

Pre-bookings have opened in Bengaluru, with more markets to follow

The Trion is available in six colours: Solar Red, Misty Green, Graphite Grey, Nova Blue, Teal Blue and Luna White. Accessories include a backrest, helmet, phone holder and pillion footrest.

The E3 Trion C1 has been introduced at Rs 99,999, while the C1x costs Rs 1.10 lakh and the range-topping C2 is priced at Rs 1.20 lakh. All prices are introductory and ex-showroom, Bengaluru.

Pre-bookings have opened in Bengaluru, and E3 says other markets will follow. The company is also offering an extended warranty of up to eight years or 1 lakh kilometres.

Upcoming Ather scooter to be called Konarc

Ather EL 01 concept

Ather has confirmed that its upcoming electric scooter, scheduled to launch at Ather Community Day on August 29, will be called the Konarc.

  1. Konarc launch confirmed for August 29 at Ather Community Day
  2. Scooter expected to be priced between Rs 1 lakh and Rs 1.25 lakh

Ather Konarc: What we know so far

Konarc closely matches EL01 concept and is set to rival TVS iQube and Bajaj Chetak

The Konarc is based on Ather’s all-new EL platform, which the brand says has been developed using over 26 lakh kilometres of field data and designed to underpin multiple scooters across different sizes and use cases. Earlier this week, CEO Tarun Mehta shared an image of the scooter on an assembly line, revealing that the production version closely matches the EL01 concept shown at Community Day 2025 and the design patent Ather filed last year.

Key visible details include a handlebar-mounted headlight, a wide LED daytime running light (DRL) on the front apron, a 14-inch front wheel, a 12-inch rear wheel and a metal body – the first time Ather has used metal body panels on any of its scooters.

The Konarc is expected to be priced between Rs 1 lakh and Rs 1.25 lakh, positioning it below the Rizta (from Rs 1.21 lakh) and the 450 range (from Rs 1.28 lakh). This will place it squarely in the mainstream commuter electric scooter segment, where rivals such as the TVS iQube and Bajaj Chetak currently dominate sales.
