KTM has updated the 200 Duke with a substantial feature addition and rider aids and the updated motorcycle has been seen at a dealership ahead of its official launch. Earlier this year, the 200 Duke received improvements like a larger front disc and lighter wheels, and now these feature additions should make it a better package.

  1. Gets a quickshifter, ride-by-wire, traction control and ride modes
  2. Likely to retain the 199.5cc engine that makes 25hp and 19.3Nm of torque
  3. Price is expected to increase from Rs 2.05 lakh

KTM 200 Duke: What’s New?

The addition of ride-by-wire introduces ride modes

One of the major changes is the addition of the bi-directional quickshifter, like its larger siblings the 390 and 250 Duke. The motorcycle now also features a ride-by-wire throttle, which introduced ride modes and traction control. Another update we can see is the updated switchgear – the left side switchgear is the same as before, but the right-side now gets a new unit, similar to the one on the 390 Duke.

Apart from the aforementioned, the motorcycle appears to be largely unchanged. It’s likely to  retain the 199.5cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine which produces 25hp at 10,000rpm and 19.3Nm at 8,000rpm, paired to a 6-speed gearbox. Seemingly the suspension units also look like the same 43mm USD fork and a monoshock, from WP. Even though it now gets ride-by-wire, cruise control is not offered here.

The KTM 200 Duke is currently priced at Rs 2.05 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), sources suggest the updates are expected to bump the cost by roughly Rs 4,000. While the Bajaj Pulsar NS200 (1.60 lakh) stands as its main competitor on paper, the KTM delivers superior build quality and performance.

Bajaj Pulsar N250 vs N250SS: Differences explained

Bajaj Pulsar N250 vs N250SS: Differences explained
Bajaj Pulsar N250 vs N250SS graphic

Bajaj recently added the Pulsar N250SS to its portfolio, following the “SS” treatment it gave the N160 earlier this year. The model sits above the standard N250, with which it shares most of its underpinnings, but also gets some pretty substantial upgrades that set it apart. Here’s a breakdown of what each has to offer.

Bajaj Pulsar N250 vs N250SS: Engine and gearbox

The SS gets a four-valve head, a six-speed gearbox and a quickshifter

On paper, both motorcycles are powered by a 249cc, air- and oil-cooled engine. However, the N250SS uses an updated version with a four-valve head. Peak output figures are rated at 25hp and 22Nm, compared to 24.5hp and 21.5Nm on the standard N250, which uses a two-valve architecture.

Another notable change is the gearbox, with the SS featuring a six-speed unit in place of the N250’s five-speed. It also comes with a quickshifter as standard for clutchless upshifts, a feature the N250 doesn’t offer. An electronic throttle body is also new and enables riding modes on the SS.

Bajaj Pulsar N250 vs N250SS: Features

The SS moves up to a TFT console and a longer equipment list

The N250 uses a negative LCD unit, which is replaced by a 5-inch TFT console on the N250SS. The latter also gets adjustable levers, a USB Type-C charging port, a panic brake alert and a hazard switch.

Bajaj Pulsar N250 vs N250SS: Price

The SS costs Rs 14,000 more than the standard N250

The N250SS is priced at Rs 1.59 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), against Rs 1.45 lakh for the standard N250. For the Rs 14,000 premium, you get a slight improvement in performance, an extra gear, a quickshifter, the TFT console and a few other convenience features.

Even at this price, the N250SS undercuts most of its chief rivals, such as the Suzuki Gixxer 250 (Rs 1.85 lakh) and the recently introduced Hero Xtreme 250R Carbon (Rs 1.98 lakh), by a fair margin.

Bajaj has launched the updated Pulsar NS200 at Rs 1.60 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), which brings a significant addition of electronics and rider aids. The updated model is Rs 11,000 more expensive than the USD fork variant (Rs 1.49 lakh).

  1. Gets a Quickshifter, Ride-by-wire, ride modes, traction control
  2. Has a new 5-inch TFT display, adjustable levers and USB Type-C charging
  3. Now gets a new 37mm thicker USD and a rear radial tyre

Updated Bajaj Pulsar NS200 details

The 200cc engine now produces 25.5hp, 1hp bump

The updated Pulsar NS200 now gets a bi-directional quickshifter, a ride-by-wire throttle that enables ride modes, a new 5-inch TFT display with Google Maps mirroring replacing the existing LCD unit. This update also brings traction control, adjustable levers, panic brake alert, a USB Type-C port and a hazard switch. Apart from the electronics suite, the mechanical changes include a new thicker 37mm USD fork replacing the 33mm unit, along with a radial rear tyre.

Apart from the aforementioned change the motorcycle retains its perimeter frame, box-section swingarm and monoshock at the rear. It also retains the 199.5cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine which now produces an extra 1hp power from 24.5hp to 25.5hp and 18.7Nm of torque, which is paired to a 6-speed gearbox. The updated NS200 is offered in three colours: Ebony Black Racing Red, Peral Metallic White and a New Nardo Grey.

Priced at Rs 1.60 lakh, the updated Bajaj Pulsar NS200 costs Rs 11,000 more than the USD fork variant below it (Rs 1.48 lakh). At this price, the Pulsar NS200 demands a slight premium over its main competitor, the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V (Rs 1.48-1.49 lakh).

Bajaj Pulsar N250 SS:

Bajaj Pulsar N250 SS:

Bajaj Pulsar N250 SS:
