Non-BS6 vehicle entry ban in Delhi from November 1
Delhi pollution

Delhi will bar vehicles registered outside the national capital that do not meet BS6 emission standards from entering the city from November 1, 2026, to January 31, 2027. Announced by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on October 20, the restriction is part of Delhi’s winter pollution control measures.

The government will also enforce a ‘No PUC, No Fuel’ rule at fuel stations across Delhi. Vehicles without a valid Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate will not be supplied petrol, diesel, CNG or LPG. These measures will be part of the wider Winter Action Plan, which runs until February 28, 2027.

Delhi vehicle entry ban: Exemptions

The entry restriction applies to vehicles registered outside Delhi that do not meet BS6 emission standards. Electric vehicles, CNG vehicles and essential services are exempt. The entry ban will run from November 1 to January 31, while the wider Winter Action Plan will continue until February 28, 2027.

Delhi to double parking fees, stagger office timings

Parking fees at authorised municipal parking facilities will be doubled, excluding parking lots operated by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation.

To minimise peak-hour congestion and vehicular emissions, the government has also announced staggered office timings and a 50 percent work-from-home arrangement across public and private offices. Municipal Corporation of Delhi offices will operate from 8:30am to 5pm, while Delhi government offices will run from 10am to 6:30pm.

The government has urged residents to use public transport, including Metro services and electric buses, as well as carpooling and last-mile connectivity.
