The Tata Sierra EV will debut on June 30, 2026. Ahead of its official launch, Tata has taken the wraps off the Sierra EV’s exterior design, which looks similar to the ICE-powered Sierra. However, a few key design elements set them apart. Here are all the similarities and differences between the Sierra EV and Sierra ICE.
Tata Sierra EV vs ICE: Exterior design
The grille and bumper designs are different, but all the lighting elements are identical
While both the EV and ICE versions of the Sierra have the same slim projector LED headlights and a connected LED lightbar at the fascia, the grille design is different. The Sierra EV gets a body-coloured blanked-off grille, while the Sierra ICE has a gloss-black unit with functional air vents.
The front bumper design is also a key differentiator. The EV features a gloss-black panel extending below the headlights, while the combustion-powered Sierra has a body-coloured panel in the same area, with the gloss-black finish limited to the lower section of the bumper. Vertically stacked LED fog lamps and a faux silver skid plate, however, are the same for both the Sierra EV and Sierra ICE.
Side profiles are identical, the only differences being the badges
In profile, the only visible difference on the Sierra EV is the new ‘Tata.ev’ badge on the front doors. The flush-type door handles, window line, Alpine-style rear window design, alloy wheels and the gloss black cladding on the wheel arches and lower portion of the doors look identical on both versions of the Sierra SUV.
Except for different badges, everything is the same in the rear profile
Save for a ‘Sierra.ev’ badge on the tailgate, the rear design of the all-electric Sierra is the same as the combustion-powered model. The slim LED taillight bar, a gloss black rear bumper with two reflectors and a faux silver skid plate, and a body-coloured roof-mounted spoiler are common between the Sierra EV and Sierra ICE.
Tata Sierra EV vs ICE: Interior design
The EV could get a different cabin theme and some EV-specific features
Dashboard design of the Tata Sierra EV has yet to be revealed, but it is expected to be similar to the Sierra ICE. The triple-screen layout, consisting of a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a 12.3-inch infotainment system, and a 12.3-inch front passenger entertainment screen, is expected to be carried over from the ICE to the EV. The steering wheel, however, is likely to have a different design and a Tata.ev badge. Another point of distinction could be a new cabin colour theme, revised seat upholstery with sustainable materials and a few EV-specific features like vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-load (V2L) charging abilities.
Tata Sierra EV: Powertrains
Sierra EV will be an AWD eSUV, but its battery packs and motor specs are yet to be revealed
The Sierra EV is underpinned by Tata’s acti.ev+ architecture, same as the Harrier EV. While the manufacturer is yet to reveal any technical specifications, it has disclosed that the Sierra EV will have an all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup. Like the Harrier EV, however, lower variants could be offered with a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) configuration to keep a check on costs. It is also expected to borrow the Harrier EV’s 65kWh and 75kWh battery options.
Like other Tata ICE and EV models, the Sierra EV is expected to cost more than the ICE model. Currently, the combustion-powered Sierra is priced from Rs 11.49 lakh to Rs 21.29 lakh (ex-showroom). For a lower upfront price, the Sierra EV could be offered with a battery-as-a-service (BaaS) scheme, similar to the Punch EV and Tiago EV.
